Context
Introducing a new aircraft into an operation involves much more than the aircraft itself.
In London, the introduction was happening while the ground-handling vendor was also changing.
That meant several operational pieces had to come together at the same time.
My Role
I supported the project from the ground-operations side.
My responsibilities included helping ensure that:
Required documentation complied with London aviation requirements Appropriate manpower was available Engineering support had the necessary aircraft knowledge Operational requirements were ready The transition between ground-handling operations was coordinated
The Challenge
Aircraft readiness, people, documentation, vendors and regulatory requirements all had to line up.
A gap in one part of the system could affect the operation as a whole.
Learning
Operational change is rarely one big thing.
It is usually many smaller dependencies that all need to be ready at the same time.
